Hi! My name is Anna. I am a stay at home mom. I love sewing, photography, cloth diapering and most of all, my family!
I have been married to my amazingly supportive husband since October 2002 and we have 2 darling girls that I absolutely adore.
I started Haute Cloth Buns because I wanted parents to be able make informed decisions before buying cloth diapers online. Many cloth diaper reviews are brief and only have a handful of pictures, making it hard to SEE if it’s what you really want–especially if you don’t have the luxury of going to a store and seeing the diaper in person first! There are a lot of excellent Cloth Diaper Review Blogs out there, and I am not trying to replace them–my hope is that my reviews would complement what is already out there.
Most of the diapers reviewed on Haute Clothed Buns have come from my personal stash, that I have purchased. Diapers given to me for review are noted in each review. Regardless of where I got the diaper, I promise you that I will always give you my honest opinion. I like to use the diaper for a minium of 2 weeks before reviewing, and usually I prefer a month or longer. I spend 6-8 hours on each review. At least 1-2 hours of that time is spent photographing each aspect of the diaper, including a “Fit” photoshoot so you can see how the diaper looks on an actual baby–from every angle. Then comes the tedious work of selecting photos for use and editing them to make sure the diaper looks as true to life as possible. I want the reader to walk away feeling as though they’ve seen the diaper in person, so it’s very important to me that the photos I post are excellent representations. This takes a few hours as well. Finally, comes the writing and layout of the actual post. I am not paid by any individual or company for my reviews.
I have included affiliate links to stores I personally shop at and can recommend highly. When you click on a provided link or banner to these stores (Diaper Junction, Mom’s Milk Boutique, GroVia, Babylegs and Sweetbottoms Baby) I receive a small percentage of your total purchase price. I am using the proceeds from my affiliate sales to fund the purchase of new diapers to review. This is the only way I can afford to continue to review new diapers, as I do not solicit individuals or companies for diapers to review.

Hi,
I love your pictures! Have you done any research on the Bummis Easy Fit?
Thanks.
I’m so glad you like the pictures
I have not had the opportunity to try or research them. So sorry
Hi Anna,
I just discovered your blog and am sooooo appreciative! I’ve been working with Abby (from Itsy Bitsy Bums) on creating a diaper stash–it’s been several months of research and testing. I wish I had found your blog sooner! We came to the same conclusion independently–I just ordered a bunch of Bottombumpers and Bright Star Baby diapers. It’s really nice to see your comparison photos and to see the diapers on a baby.
Where in Oregon are you? I’m from Hood River.
Besides saying Thank You for your diaper reviews….I wanted to let you know that the link on your site to Mom’s Milk Boutique appears to be broken. I just want you to get credit for those referrals.
Have a good evening.
-Catherine
Hi Catherine,
Yay for loving Bottombumpers–and an even bigger YAY for ordering a bunch!! Which colors did you get? My fav is the “iceland” color…
Thanks so much for your comment! I love Abby–she is so great to work with
I’m from the Gresham area, but we currently live in Germany. I am jealous that you are in Hood River this time of year–there is nothing quite as beautiful as the Columbia Gorge in the fall!
Thanks for the heads up on the Mom’s Milk Boutique link. I will have to contact them and ask about it! I had no idea it wasn’t working.

Yes, we feel very fortunate to live here—Germany sounds fun too though. Are you getting diapers shipped from the states or do they stock these diapers where you are? Are their any fun German diaper brands there that you have tried?
-Catherine
Hey Catherine,
I’m so sorry I didn’t reply sooner. For some reason I didn’t get a notice! We are connected to the US MIlitary here in Germany, so we have an APO box that allows us to get stateside mail. So far, the only German diapers I’ve come across are muslin flats. Disana is a German company, but none of the baby stores in our area carry any of their products. Weird…
Dear Anna,
I came across your blog via the Peachy Green newsletter and I love it! And now I am even more excited that you are actually living in Germany right now! I am German and would love to promote pretty (!) cloth diapers here. You’re right, Germany cloth diapers are not fun. I’ve just ordered a Bendel fitted (Austrian, though) which comes closest to cute, but I haven’t tried it yet. Hope to read more of you!

Thu~
I have gone to baby store after baby store here in Germany and the only thing I’ve found are muslin and flannel flats. I have seen BumGenius and GroVIa online at a handful of German stores, but none in real life. You mentioned you were going to write a blog in the German language–have you started it yet? I have German friends who would love to know about it, so be sure to share a link here and on my FB wall!
Where in Germany are you??
Hi Catherine!
Just wanted to say thanks again for the heads up on the broken link! MMB was able to give me a fixed one and it works again. I never would have known if you hadn’t said something!!
Have an Awesome day!!
Anna
No problem–glad to help. I’m working on getting a blog started of my own and know how easy it is for little glitches like that to slip by. -Catherine
Hi there, Anna!
I am a good friend of Beth. We were roommates at Multnomah.
My husband and I have one little boy and a little lady on the way. We’ve used BumGenius diapers for Trey, our son. Recently, however, in the last month or so I have switched to paper diapers (please don’t judge me
) because his poop became unpredictable and I didn’t want to be scraping diapers all day long. Did you find there were some “transition” times when poop became consistently soft and difficult to deal with on the cloth diapers? Do you use a sprayer? We’re bummed to buy paper diapers after using cloth for so long, but it just seemed too hard (not the poop, but cleaning up the poop) hehe.
So anyway, I’d love to hear your ideas/feedback.
Thanks!
Sierra C.
p.s. Say hi to Beth for me!
Hey Sierra!
Oh man, the transition in between newborn poo and solid poo is nasty! There definitely have been a few days when I put a paper diaper on J because I just didn’t feel like dealing with the poop!
Will Trey eat bananas? I found that if J eats a banana each day, it makes her poo solid enough that it can kind of roll off. I have a sprayer, but usually end up just swishing (however, I’m not sure I could stomach it while pregnant!). The “peanut butter poo” stage lasted about 6 months for us. Blech.
Have you thought about using flushable liners? They would be cheaper than disposables, but still allow you to toss the poo without having to scrape. Basically, they’re little sheets you lay on top of the inside of the diaper. If your little one poos, you just toss it in the toilet and flush! Easy peasy
Congrats on the little lady on the way!!
I’ll be sure to hug Beth for yay! She’s pretty much amazing
Dear Anna,
What a great idea! The disposable liners! I will definitely look into those. Any suggestions on brand/type?
Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
Yes, Beth is pretty much amazing. I miss her SO much.
Love to you (thanks again!),
Sierra
I’ve only used the grovia liners. I like them.
Oh, and yes, Trey loves bananas! That is interesting. I will have to be consistent in giving him a banana a day and see what I discover. Thanks for the tip!
No problem
I hope it helps–I hate “peanut butter (consistency) poop” it’s gross!
Anna, I’ll be happy to post my bloglink as soon as I’m ready to publish. You’re right about not getting cloth diapers in stores. As far as I know, you can get Popolinis in stores (e.g. Baby Walz) which are derivates of mother-ease. But I wasn’t really kean on those. And then there is one little shop in Berlin that I know of selling BumGenius and the like. Everything else is online. If I wasn’t a working mom, I’d started a business straight away
I live in Hannover, Lower Saxony. Where do you live?
-Thu
~Thu,
I have not had a chance to go to our Baby Walz store yet, but I’m hoping to soon. So far, I’ve ordered everything I have online. I have never been to a cloth diaper store in person before!
I’m in the Rheinland Pfalz (Kaiserslautern). I have some of the new Bum Genius colors (brand new–still in package), that I have decided not to keep because my daughter is still having issues with the suedecloth (I had hoped that she would have outgrown it by now). Do you think there would be any Germans interested? I could sell them to other Americans here, but since they are so hard for Europeans to buy, I wouldn’t mind mailing them via Deutsche Post if someone was interested.
Dear Anna,
too bad, Kaierslautern is quite a distance. The FC is playing against Hannover 96 next weekend, though
Don’t expect too much from the Baby Walz! When I tried to find out more about cloth diapers, they only got some muslims and covers for potty training. It’s such a pitty that you cannot get some hands-on experience here before you decide. There is a baby’s clothes store right downstairs in my house which sells high fashion products, and I always think that diapers like the Peachy Greens or GroVias would perfectly fit in there. Maybe one day I’ll ask them to spare a shelf
You can sell your items on naturwindeln.de. I think they’d be happy about some BumGenius.
